Naked News Today: Anna is No Leader!
The UPA govt. besieged by the nuclear radiation of corruption scams from all sides may yet complete its full term in power so long as it has friendly supporters in the media like Vinita Dawra Nangia of timeslife. In her write-up 'Waiting for the Mahatma' (April 17) she makes fantastic statements to discredit Anna Hazare's Movement against corruption which has actually become a people's movement though celebrities might have also jumped on the bandwagon to sell their image. On the one hand she claims that 'we are a nation that sadly lacks leaders who will spearhead' the causes we must fight. In another breath , berating and condemning Anna Hazare's Movement as 'a very dangerous trend', she dangerously asks, 'Who is to say who represents civil society? No offence to Anna (what else it is?), but what if tomorrow another and another and yet another Anna fasts unto death for as many causes? Would we throw in the nation's support behind them all? So actually there is no dearth of Anna-like leaders in India, according to Nangia, but scarcity of leaders who will truly represent 'civil society' as perceived by her. Of course, congress leaders and politicians of A. Raja variety must be her ideal candidates to spearhead a revolution against corruption, as the adage goes, 'Set a thief to catch a thief.'
Making self-contradictory statements is the habit that media persons like Nangia have cultivated, perfected and fine-tuned to the extent of making them sound plausible. Nangia has not only discredited Anna Hazare as a leader and a true Gandhian, but also lampooned the whole crowd of supporters that spontaneously rose as one to be with him in his anti-corruption drive. . When Anna's supporters point to he govt. functionaries and enemies of civil society as ';they' Nangia bursts with righteous anger: "But who is 'they'? The first thing to understand is that there is no 'they'. It is 'us', We, the people of India fighting ourselves and the corruption inherent in us.We need to cleanse ourselves first before we set out to teach others a lesson." So guys, shut up shop, go back home, cleanse yourselves and the space around yourselves. The corruption will just wither away and there would be no need for candle light vigils, silent marches, or fasts unto death. Bravo! What a simple solution! 'Bharat Ratna' should be awarded for such an excellent discovery that solves the problem of corruption in a jiffy!

Mediocrity Zindabad
While our corporatized media, politicians, educationists, bureaucrats and businessmen illustrate the sheer dominance of all-round MEDIOCRITY everywhere, they keep on making the noises about India shining. While millions of Indians are dying of hunger and poverty, some ending their lives in sheer desperation, these noise-makers make the entire world believe that ALL IS WELL and that India is the best possible destination for foreign investors and charitably inclined donors. They know very well that whatever noises are made about corruption, they will die out soon. Under such a dispensation of fixedness, what role is left for excellence to thrive ? Corruption will continue to be seen as an essential and inevitable concomitant and price of progress. How could Commonwealth Games have been organized on such a lavish scale unless the organizers had plenty of motivation to make crores on the sideline? It's not only cricket matches that are fixed. Everything is fixed from the appointment of Prime Minister to the appointment of Ministers like Radia's A.Raja.It is fixed which political dynasty will rule India and for how many years. Under such a dispensation how can excellence thrive or even survive when mediocrity is the absolute ruler? Intellectual and moral excellence have no place in an India where mediocrity is worshipped. Sycophancy breeds mediocrity and it is what determines what plum posts you get.Every five years or even before, the people of India are befooled by the enactment of the great circus called'Elections' which are meant only for the benefit of crooks and scamsters.Decent, noble and intelligent people have no place in this circus of buffoons. What should be done?

How to fight corruption
The ubiquitous presence of corruption in India is an indication that mediocrity is continuously spreading its tentacles to smother excellence in every walk of life. There is a direct correlation between the prevalence of corruption and promotion of mediocrity. Mediocre people believe in short-cuts to achieve success and there's nothing like dishonesty, cheating, bribery, embezzlement, kickbacks, etc. to help them amass mountain-heaps of money in a short time. The Indian youth have to assert themselves and fight for the fundamental right to live in a corruption-free society. The calamitous rat race for money is leading us into the blind alley of self-destruction. The glorification of the corrupt celebrities by the media is an evil that needs to be tackled urgently. The present Congress-led UPA govt. has broken all records in shielding the corrupt.Enough is enough. The ordinary citizens must show an extraordinary courage by uniting against corruptocracy, terrorocracy, wealthocracy and all the other evils that are bent on destroying India.

Corruption as Saviour
It needs the shameless guts of a congress-led UPA govt. to defend the indefensible - the rampant corruption prevailing on a colossal scale, nakedly evident in scams like CWG, Adarsh Housing Society, 2 G Spectrum, Appointment of a tainted man as CVC, and scores of others that may remain hidden from the public eye. This govt. has obviously broken all records of corruption in independent India. There is no room for doubt that this massive and gigantic corruption has been possible through the active connivance of the highest functionaries of the UPA govt. The brazenness with which the Prime Minister and others are using linguistic jugglery to turn corruption on its head and make it seem more like a matter of perception rather than a reality is truly amazing. According to this kind of logic, all people charged with corruption and misuse of funds running into trillions of rupees should be awarded Bharat Ratna for their talent in committing frauds, which are actually not frauds but national service.

LIGHT AND LOVE
Every moment of our life is filled with the quintessential presence of magic. The smallest particle of the universe is alive with the charismatic power to create something new and unique. Each particle is saturated with the essence of divinity, the aura of which shines through all the spaces that connect them into a sublime network of great and wondrous beauty.
We are all children of light , why are we afraid of darkness then? It's the nature of darkness to steal into spaces where light doesn't seem to reach or shine. But all darkness is, by and latge, an illusion, because we sometimes tend to forget that every crevice and corner of the universe is illuminated with the Divine Light. Darkness cannot exist where there is light. Light remains embedded in the foundation and structure of the universe. Darkness actually is a reflection of our inner fear, ignorance or illusion.
Light is the song of love that our heart is perpetually singing. Love is the light that is for ever shining through our existence. Light is the fragrance of God that everlastingly bathes us in its fresh and enchanting melody of love. Love is a dip in the pure and holy Ganga that refreshes us and purifies us by ridding us of all that is dross and 'unlove.'

Awaken the Excellence Within
The gravitational pull of our earthly existence tends to pull us towards mediocrity, while our spirit strives to soar towards heaven.. As our bodies follow the path of least resistance we remain lethargic most of the time, satisfied with the paltry rewards of daily grind. But we need to follow our gaze towards the stars of heaven, to lift ourselves towards the enchanting sky, to reach out towards the ethereal heights that are saturated with God's presence. Once we are bathed in the ocean of divine fragrance we feel utterly refreshed and energized. We begin to feel the magnificent melody of existence touching our innermost being. Excellence begins to refine our faculties, thinking process and emotions. WE begin to perform every action in a better way. Excellence rescues us from the curse of mediocrity.
